Most people start out using generic affiliate pages. When I first started using TEs, there wasn’t a great deal of choice, splash pages were practically unheard of, and TEs were still new enough that people took time to look at the sites while they were waiting for the timer. Tab surfing came later. So, you could make some sales using affiliate pages.
But things changed, the TE industry moved on, and affiliate pages stopped getting results. Something new was needed.
Along came the splash page.
All good splash pages have a few things in common:
1. They load fast (typically in 1 or 2 seconds)
2. They fit the page (no need to scroll down or sideways)
3. Only the main sales points are used, and these are in clear, bold text
4. They open a new window when clicked
Splash pages were designed purely for TEs, where people surf fast, and only have a second or two (at most) to view a site. They are intended to stand out and get the viewer’s attention, even if just for the moment it takes to click on the page. They get much better results than affiliate pages.

But most of the splash pages you see on TEs are still generic, and you see the same pages over and over again until you become numb to their message. To stand out, you still need something different.
Along comes the personalised splash page.
Using personalised pages is the best way to get people to click on your site in a traffic exchange. Choose an eye-catching photo of yourself, and edit it so your face can be clearly seen, even when the photo is made small. Use your photo and your name on ALL your splash pages. Never advertise without them. Once you have chosen a photo, stick with it because people will start to recognise it.
Using personalised splash pages won’t make a noticeable difference to start with. People will need to learn to recognise your name and photo. But once they do start to recognise you, the difference in clicks on your splash pages and sign-ups in your programs will become very clear.
